The Spanish Minister for Culture, Ángeles González-Sinde, has just presented the work programme that will be tackled at the next European Forum for Cultural Industries, to be held on 29 and 30 March in Barcelona.

Organised by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and International Trade of Barcelona, the forum will be the ideal prologue to the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Culture of the European Union that will also be held in the Catalan capital on 31 March.

The aim is to reflect on the different models for supporting the cultural and creative industries and their direct, indirect and induced effects on economic growth and on the creation of jobs; all within the framework of the Green paper on the cultural industries.

Structure and contents:
Plenary meeting

Workgroups:
- Strategies for the establishment and development of the creative and cultural industries: access to investment, access to bank sureties, etc.
- Training and qualification of professionals in the cultural sector. Fostering talent.
- Contribution of cultural industries to local and regional development.
- Legal aspects: Intellectual property of authors.

Plenary meeting setting out the conclusions reached.

Profile of those attending:
- Creative and cultural industry sector, both political authorities and managers responsible for the promotion and encouragement of these industries.
- Institutional representatives from the EU.
- Technical experts who have worked at the European level in the various workgroups producing the Green Paper.
- Representatives of various sectors of culture.
